CT Weather: Heavy Rain On Election Day Then A Brief Warm-Up

When you head to the polls on Election Day, the weather will not be good. Here's what you need to know.

If you have any PTO time left this year, Wednesday may be a good day to take off. The forecast on Wednesday calls for sunshine and temps in the low 60s. It will be a brilliant late fall day.

As for the not so great news, rain moves in on Monday and continues throughout Election Day. Heavy rain is forecast on Election Day and before it ends Connecticut could see another inch of rain.

The National Weather Service says low temps on Sunday night "will be in the middle and upper 30s in far outlying areas, with mainly lower and middle 40s along the immediate coast..."

"A low pressure system along the Mid Atlantic coast will track to the north and northeast on Monday. This will lead to an increasing chance of rain during the morning, with rain continuing for the afternoon. Temperatures will range from the upper 40s across far northern sections, to the lower and middle 50s elsewhere.

"Rain will taper off Monday night followed by some patchy fog and some drizzle developing ahead of an approaching warm front. Turning milder for Monday night into Tuesday as temperatures climb above seasonable levels. A cold front will then approach during Tuesday afternoon bringing another round of rain. The rain may be briefly heavy at times with possibly a few thunderstorms. Drier and cooler air will follow for Tuesday night into Wednesday. Wednesday should feature a good deal of sunshine along with breezy conditions as high pressure builds in," the National Weather Service says.
