Pay-It-Forward Flashing Game Blamed For Vernon Indecency Charge

A 30-year-old Vernon man blamed a game of pay-it-forward flashing for a public indecency charge, police said.

VERNON, CT — A 30-year-old Vernon man blamed a game of pay-it-forward flashing for a public indecency charge after a September incident in a 7-Eleven parking lot, according to a warrant.

Everett Hill, whose listed address is on Oak Street in Vernon, was arrested this week on a warrant for the Sept. 14 incident, police said. In addition to the public indecency charge, he was charged with second-degree breach of peace, police said.

According to a warrant, a woman came into the Vernon Police Department the following day to complain about being flashed by a man at the Rockville 7-Eleven on Union Street.

She had put gas in her car, moved it and while she was parked, noticed a man approaching her vehicle, according to a warrant. She lowered her window a few inches, and asked the man what he wanted, and he responded by asking where "Baker Street" was while saying he was not from the area, according to a warrant.

The woman looked down to get her phone and activate the map function and then looked back toward the man and noticed he had pulled his pants down, according to a warrant. He then tried to put his genitalia in the car, but she yelled an expletive at him while closing the window, according to a warrant.

Police identified both Hill and his vehicle via surveillance images and witnesses and caught up to him at his Oak Street residence, a short distance from the 7-Eleven, according to a warrant. When interrogated by the cops, Hill claimed he was following a "trend" and was flashing a random person after being randomly flashed by a random woman himself, according to a warrant.

He said to the police, "It was something stupid I probably should not have never done," according to a warrant. He is described in a warrant as quickly turning away when he noticed a startled look on the woman's face.
