New Britain Police Officer Seriously Injured In Crash: Mayor
The officer, whose identity has not been released, was en route to a call Friday when he reportedly was in a collision with another vehicle.
NEW BRITAIN, CT — An unnamed New Britain police officer suffered serious injuries Friday morning when his patrol car was struck by another vehicle while the officer was en route to an emergency call, announced Mayor Erin Stewart via spokesperson Rachel Zaniewski.
The crash occurred at about 7 a.m. the intersection of Chestnut Street and the Harry S. Truman Overpass, and the officer's lights and siren were activated at the time.
The extent of the officer's injuries was not disclosed, but he was being treated at an area hospital Friday.

"The operator of the other vehicle was also transported to an area hospital for minor injuries," Zaniewski wrote in a statement emailed to Patch.
Members of the the New Britain Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau are investigating the crash, and urge anyone who may have witnessed it to contact Sgt. Joseph Torrente at 860-826-3071.
