Plainfield Snowmobile Operator Charged In February Collision With Pedestrian

PLAINFIELD, CT — A snowmobile operator who crashed into and seriously injured a pedestrian in February was arrested on a warrant this morning, according to police.

Ronald G. Bourque, 29, Plainfield, is charged with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, first-degree reckless endangerment, operation of an unregistered snowmobile, negligent operation of a snowmobile, and operation of a snowmobile on a public roadway.

Bourque turned himself in at the Plainfield Police Department headquarters, police said.

The charges stem from a crash on Feb. 7. Around 5:55 p.m., police received multiple calls reporting a crash involving a snowmobile and a pedestrian on New Road in the Moosup section of town.

Police said the pedestrian, a 59-year-old Plainfield man, suffered serious injuries to his legs and head, and he required hospitalization.

Bourque was charged at the scene with driving under the influence, engaging police in pursuit, and reckless driving. These initial charges stemmed from an earlier, unrelated incident in Moosup, police said.

Bourque was held Tuesday on a court-set $100,000 cash/surety bond, and presented at Superior Court in Danielson.
