Snowmobile Hits, Seriously Injures Pedestrian, Police Say
The snowmobile's operator is facing charges in what police are calling an "unrelated incident."
PLAINFIELD, CT — A snowmobile struck and seriously injured a pedestrian Saturday evening, according to police.
Police received multiple calls at about 5:55 p.m. reporting a crash involving a snowmobile and a pedestrian on New Road in the Moosup section of Plainfield.
Officers found the pedestrian, a 59-year-old Plainfield man, lying in the road, suffering from serious injuries to his legs and head.

He was taken by ambulance to Backus Hospital and Norwich and later transferred to Hartford Hospital for further treatment.
Police located the snowmobile's operator, Ronald Bourque, 29, of Plainfield, at the scene of the accident.

He was arrested on charges "stemming from an unrelated incident that occurred earlier in the evening," police said. Bourque was charged with driving under the influence, engaging in a police pursuit, and reckless driving.
He was released on $10,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in court Feb. 18.
