Plymouth Man Accused Of Voyeurism After Spyware Tech Found In Residence: PD

The hidden cameras were disguised as other devices, according to police.

PLYMOUTH, CT — A local man is facing voyeurism charges after police say he installed spyware cameras in his residence and captured images of people in “various stages of undress.”

Police on Monday arrested Samuel E. Rodriguez, 53, of Plymouth, charging him on a warrant with five counts of voyeurism.

Officer Dean L. Cyr said police launched an investigation after a resident discovered a spyware camera in a bathroom.

Police said the investigation showed Rodriguez had placed two spyware cameras in his family home, where residents and house guests had an expectation of privacy.

The spyware cameras were disguised as a Bluetooth speaker and an air purifier. Rodriguez received alerts when people entered certain rooms, including a bathroom and bedroom, where the cameras had been placed, police said.

“These alerts then allowed Rodriguez to view the residents, record them, and photograph them. The cameras also allowed Rodriguez to pan 180 degrees while watching people who used these rooms,” police said, in a press release.

Police executed a search warrant and seized cameras, phones and computers.

“A search of these devices revealed several dozen photos and videos of people, in various stages of undress, who were unaware they were being recorded,” police said.

Rodriguez was held on a $200,000 bond for a court appearance at Superior Court in New Britain.
