KILLINGLY, CT — State police are investigating after finding human remains in Killingly on Wednesday, according to WTNH News-8.

The remains were found after police were dispatched to Woodward Street at about 4:30 p.m.

The investigation remains active, and police said there is no threat to the public, WTNH News-8 reported.

No word on how the remains got there or the person's identity.

This is the third recent case in the area of human remains being found.

One was in Groton when police responded to a 911 call on March 19. Human remains were found at the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery on Mitchell Street.

Another case occurred in Foster, Rhode Island, on March 27. The remains were identified as Michele Romano, and police have deemed her death suspicious, according to NBC CT.

Police have not established any link between these cases.
