Popular CT News Anchor Continues To Recover From Surgery
The Fox61 morning news anchor has been off-air for several weeks.
CONNECTICUT — Tim Lammers, morning news anchor at Connecticut's Fox61, has been off the air for several weeks as he continues to recover from hip replacement surgery, he announced on social media.
Lammers, who has been with the station for more than 20 years, said his right hip had to be totally replaced in March.
"While I take more time to recuperate, I’m taking up beard growing," he wrote next to a smiling photo of his new facial hair. "Any post-replacement advice would be appreciated!"

The South Windsor native joined the station in 2002 as a sports producer, but has worn a host of different hats in the interim, such as videographer, health reporter, and anchor, to name a few.
His recovery from the hip surgery — which stemmed from avascular necrosis — has been painful at times, he wrote, adding that he will need to get the left hip replaced at some point in the future.

AVN, as it is called, is a rare degenerative bone disease, and Lammers put together an Emmy-nominated report on his ailment, which he has dealt with for years.
His report included him "going under the knife, on camera, to receive a cutting-edge stem cell transplant using his own bone marrow," according to his Fox61 bio.
That stem cell treatment helped delay the need for the hip replacement for several years, Lammers said.
