Popular CT News Anchor Departs After More Than 20 Years

Jocelyn Maminta is leaving WTNH-TV for a new job in health care.

After more than 20 at the station, Jocelyn Maminta is leaving WTNH-TV for a new job with Hartford Healthcare, she announced on air this week.

In addition to Connecticut, Maminta has anchored newscasts in Texas and North Carolina, among other states, and is the co-founder of Caroline's Room, "a safe haven for families coping with the challenges and uncertainties surrounding the birth of a premature baby," according to her bio.

An emotional Maminta thanked viewers and the members of her News 8 family on Friday.

"As a journalist, reporting the news is privilege and a responsibility, on the anchor desk and as medical reporter, always with the highest standard," she said. "And through it all, you welcomed me into your living rooms."

Maminta is graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, where she majored in political science. She also serves on multiple boards in Connecticut, including the Friends of Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital.

The Laurel writes that Maminta's medical reporting and anchor duties will be taken over by Lisa Carberg.
