"My six years here have really allowed me to heighten my passion for TV journalism - a reminder to myself that this career was always meant for me and it always will be," Chau wrote. "The itch of curiosity doesn’t come with an off and on button. Being a journalist has become my identity and I’ll be honest, I’m afraid of losing that identity. "

Chau joined Fox 61 in April 2017 as a nightside reporter, according to her bio on the station's website. She then went on to anchor the news at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Saturday nights.

"I’ve covered some gruesome stories… stories I always took home with me and made me ponder as to how cruel some people can be. I’ve also covered many positive stories... stories that always made me grin from ear to ear during my drive home, making my sleep easier at night knowing there are still good people in this world," Chau added.

"No matter the story, what’s paramount to me is hoping … I’ve made a difference by shedding light on communities’ concerns, giving a voice to the voiceless, but also righting the wrong."

A Connecticut native and graduate of East Hartford High School and Eastern Connecticut State University, Chau went to Quinnipiac University for her master's degree in broadcast journalism. She later became an adjunct professor at QU.

Prior to coming to Fox 61, Chau worked as a reporter in Hagerstown, Md., and then in Albany, N.Y.

It's unclear what Chau will do next, but she hinted that she'll be in touch soon about her plans.

"As I always say, there is no show without the viewers. So I thank you. From the bottom of my heart. Truly. Deeply," Chau wrote. "So, what’s next? You always hear me say every weekend - don’t go away, I’ll be right back with that."
