Popular CT Television News Reporter Signs Off

Mark Sudol, a reporter at News 12 Connecticut, signed off from the Norwalk-based station last week after more than 17 years.

Sudol made the announcement in a video he posted to Facebook.

"After 17 years here at News 12 Connecticut, this is my last day," Sudol said on Friday. "It has been a privilege to be able to come into your homes and tell you the stories that mean the most to Southwestern Connecticut."

He did not disclose his future plans, but hinted that something may be in the offing.

"But, I'm sure we will see each other again, and something big is around the corner," Sudol said. "I don't yet know what that is, but when I know, I'll tell you. Thank you."

He also added a note of thanks to his family.

"On my last day at News 12 CT I would like to thank my wife and family for all their support and all my friends," Sudol wrote. "A new chapter is beginning, and it’s going to be big!"

In addition to News 12 Connecticut, Sudol logged hours at ESPN in Bristol, and for New England Cable News (NECN) and Regional News Network (RNN).

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Connecticut, and was recently nominated for a NYC Emmy Award.

Fans were saddened by his departure, but wished Sudol well.

"Will miss your style and sincerity, it's like taking the 'local news' out of a trusted local source," one fan wrote. "Here's hoping you appear on a local state provider."

"You will be missed," another fan wrote. "Ch. 12 won't be and isn't the same already."

Another added, "Best of luck to you Mark, and thank you for your support over the years. I know your next chapter will be great!"
