Possible Food Poisoning At Central Connecticut State University Café
A campus café at Central Connecticut State University is being investigated for a potential food poisoning, the school said Wednesday.
NEW BRITAIN, CT — Health officials are investigating a potential food poisoning outbreak at a Central Connecticut State University campus cafe, the school said in a news alert Wednesday.
The university's Environmental Health & Safety Department is working with the City of New Britain Department of Public Health and food service provider Sodexo to investigate the Hilltop Café, according to school officials.
The Hilltop Café is temporarily closed while health officials try to isolate the potential cause, officials said. The other cafeterias are open.

Students can get care for symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, and upset stomach at the Student Wellness Center, Central Connecticut State University reminded students in the alert.
University health services professionals can see students at no charge for office visits, school officials said.

You can get sick with food poisoning after swallowing certain germs like Salmonella or E. coli, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Symptoms can range from mild to serious and can last for a few hours or several days, the CDC said on its website.
According to the CDC, you should see a doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- Bloody diarrhea
- Diarrhea that lasts more than 3 days
- High fever (temperature over 102°F)
- Vomiting so often that you cannot keep liquids down
- Signs of dehydration, which include not urinating much, a dry mouth and throat, feeling dizzy when standing up
