Samaia Hernandez Moves To Fox 61 TV News, Begins New Job

Hernandez, a popular news anchor and reporter, left WTNH News 8 in May and announced this week that she has joined Fox 61 TV news.

CONNECTICUT — When Samaia Hernandez announced she was departing WTNH News 8 around Memorial Day she told us to "Stay tuned!" for what would be next, and she announced late Monday that she is moving over to Fox 61 TV.

She will serve as both a reporter and a news anchor at Fox 61.

Hernandez worked at WTNH News 8 for three plus years and when she left she wrote.

"How do you say goodbye to the best team?" she wrote on her social media accounts. "With a heavy heart."

She received congratulations on social media concerning her new job at Fox 61.

Fox 61 anchor Jenn Bernstein wrote on Twitter, "welcome lady! We are lucky to have you!" Fox 61 anchor Carmen Chau wrote, "Welcome lady! Happy to help you get settled at FOX if you need anything."

And Fox 61 chief Meteorologist Rachel Frank wrote on Facebook, "Yes, yes, yes!! We are so happy to have to you on the team!"

Hernandez is a news veteran, having worked at Connecticut Public Broadcasting, Tribune Company, and even at Patch, according to her LinkedIn profile.

"Bringing you the morning news during these uncertain years has fueled me," she wrote. "I am so grateful."

Hernandez is the latest Connecticut TV news reporter to change jobs in 2022, joining the likes of Darren Kramer, and Teresa Dufour, among others.
