Schedule Change Has CT Television News Anchor 'Excited'

WFSB - Channel 3's Nicole Nalepa will finally get to sleep in.

CONNECTICUT — A big change is in the works for one of WFSB-TV's beloved news anchors.

Nicole Nalepa, who has been an early morning anchor at the station for a decade, will finally get to sleep in a bit longer, because she is giving up the "Eyewitness News This Morning" gig, but will continue co-hosting WFSB's "Great Day at 9A" with Scot Haney.

On Monday, she told viewers about the change — which will take place next week — and posted the video on Facebook.

"I can't tell you how excited I am," Nalepa said. "You've watched me grow up this past decade on this show, and now this move will allow me to watch my children grow up."

Nalepa said will allow her to no longer have to set the alarm clock for 2:30 a.m.

"I know I'm not going anywhere, so don't worry, I'm just starting and ending my work day a little later, which is going to be amazing, especially with two small children, as you can imagine," she said.

Nalepa has been with WFSB since 2013, and before joining the station, she was an anchor and reporter at WWLP in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she worked overnights and mornings.

She has a Communications degree from Westfield State University, and had a post-grad internship at CBS News in New York on the "Evening News with Katie Couric," according to her bio.

Nalepa's replacement on the early morning newscast has not yet been announced, but she says that viewers "will love this person."
