Scoop Dogg, Husky McSalty Among Winning CT Snowplow Names
The Connecticut Department of Transportation received more than 1,700 entries to the contest. The public voted on the final four names.
NEWINGTON, CT — Not every snowplow has a name, but four in Connecticut may just have the most clever after residents selected their top choices in the state Department of Transportation's inaugural "Name The Snowplow" contest.
The winning names were Scoop Dogg, Husky McSalty, Buzz Iceclear, and Plowzilla, officials announced in a news release.
The winning four names were also announced in a video featuring Gov. Ned Lamont.

The Department of Transportation received nearly 1,700 entries from Connecticut residents. Department staff voted for the top 20 names, and of those names, the winning four were selected by the public.
The four winning names were selected to represent the four maintenance districts in Connecticut.

"The Name the Snowplow contest was a new way for the DOT to connect and engage with residents across the state. I appreciate the creativity, enthusiasm, and fun residents had with our first-ever snowplow naming contest," Commissioner Joseph Giulietti said in a release.
The newly-named plows will now take their identities on the road. Names will be displayed on the front sides of four CTDOT tandem axle tow plows.
