Special Weather Statement Issued + Live Traffic Updates: CT AM News Digest

CONNECTICUT — A special weather statement has been issued for southern Connecticut. "There will be enhanced potential for brush fire spread today into early this evening as NE winds of around 10 to 20 mph with gusts of near 25 to 30 mph help dry out the low levels," the National Weather Service said. "The forecast relative humidity decreases to 15 to 20 percent this afternoon into early evening."

And the special weather statement for northern Connecticut says, "A very dry airmass combined with gusty winds will result in elevated fire weather concerns today. Northeast winds will gust to 20 to 30 mph. Minimum relative humidities will drop to around 15 percent in northern CT..."

It's currently around 50 degrees across Connecticut as of 6:45 a.m., and temperatures will rise today to near 70 degrees. We can enjoy sunny skies too. It looks like more sun and temperatures into the mid 70s on Wednesday.
