Target Making 'Buy Now, Pay Later' A Holiday Retail Option

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut shoppers will be able to buy now, pay later when buying holiday gifts at Target.

In a partnership with two entities — Sezzle and Affirm — the big box chain has added the option, calling it, "a handy option during the busy holiday season and all year long."

Said Target president of financial and retail services Gemma Kubat, "We know our guests want easy and affordable payment options that work within their family’s budget. Through our partnerships with Affirm and Sezzle, Target is investing in new financial tools that make our shopping experiences more flexible and personalized to guests’ needs, right in time for the holiday season."

Target officials said Sezzle and Affirm offer a range of payment options, timelines and services based on "guest eligibility" and depending on what is purchased and how long customers want to spread payments out.

Sezzle

Sezzle splits each purchase into four interest-free payments over six weeks with no fees if paid on time. Customers must first Apply with Sezzle, then shop Target.com or the Target app and use the Sezzle Virtual Card as the payment method at checkout. Sezzle can also be used with drive-ip and store pickup purchases.

Same-day delivery with Shipt, and in our stores via Apple Pay or Google Pay, is also an option, officials said.

Sezzle is a 2019 graduate of one of the Target Accelerator programs, which invite startup companies together for retail boot camps to scale their businesses and bring them to market.

Affirm

For purchases of more than $100, Affirm offers a "pay at your own pace" option with with monthly payments. Customers can apply with Affirm to get started, then shop online at Target.com and choose Affirm as the payment method at checkout. Affirm doesn’t charge any late or hidden fees. Target officials said.
