CONNECTICUT — Lauren Fabrizi, a veteran news reporter who worked for News 12 Connecticut for eight years, thanked her viewers in a social media post this week following layoffs at the network in October.
According to broadcast industry news outlet TVNewsCheck, Altice, the company that owns News 12, laid off up to 40 employees in the New York Metropolitan area in early October, with New Jersey and Connecticut the hardest hit.
"Reporting in my hometown market the past eight years is something I never took for granted. Rather, it fueled me to be the best journalist possible," Fabrizi said on X, the social media app formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday night.

Oct. 2 was her final day at News 12 CT.
"Every story that gave people a voice, every story that comforted grieving families during the worst of times, every story that helped police track down a suspect, every story that led to a missing person being found, every alert that kept the public safe during severe weather — that's what I'll remember when I look back on my career at News 12," Fabrizi added.

Calling it an "honor" to report in her hometown market, Fabrizi said, "It's not goodbye, it's see you later." She ended her post by thanking viewers for tuning in over the years.
"I want to end this by thanking you for the trust you've placed in me with your stories, and for welcoming me into your living rooms each and every morning. It's been the honor of my life serving this community."
