Veteran TV Meteorologist Resigns From CT's Fox61
Dan Amarante has been with the station for 11 years.
CONNECTICUT — After 11 years at Hartford-based Fox61, meteorologist Dan Amarante has one thing on his mind... sleep.
The veteran weather forecaster, who is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, the American Meteorology Society's highest certification, announced he is leaving the station on Friday, and cannot wait for some proper shuteye.
"I'm looking forward to finally ditching those consistent 2AM alarms and getting some sleep like a normal human being!" he wrote on Twitter.

As for what the future holds, he was mum at first, saying that he was looking forward to spending more time with his family.
By Tuesday afternoon, however, he said that he had landed a new job, but declined to say where.

"I accepted a job at a national network doing behind-the-scenes graphics and forecasting," he wrote.
The Cheshire native has had a love of meteorology since childhood, reading weather books and venturing out of the house as a kid during thunderstorms, according to his bio.
A graduate of Western Connecticut State University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in meteorology, Amarante got his professional start at Springfield, Massachusetts-based WGGB ABC40/FOX6.
He thanked all his coworkers throughout the years, and gave special shoutouts to the Fox61 "hard-working weather team" and Rachel Piscitelli, who will replace him on the Fox61 Morning News broadcast.
"I have full confidence she'll excel in that role."
