2 Bomb Threats In Avon Part Of Nationwide Scam

Two phony bomb threats were made to Avon organizations in a scam that hit towns across the country.

AVON, CT - Two Avon businesses received bomb threats via email Thursday in part of a nationwide scam, according to Avon Police. The first incident was at Apple Health Care at 21 Waterville Road. The email did not include any specific location of the the threat within the building or company but demanded a Bitcoin payment for the bomb not to be detonated.

The second incident was at Farmington Woods Master Association at 200 Byron Drive. The email requested Bitcoin payment for the bomb not to be detonated, according to police.

Connecticut State Police investigated a series of "suspicious incidents" across the state Thursday including in Griswold, Suffield, Newtown, Ridgefield, Madison, Fairfield, Danbury, Westport, Wallingford, Bloomfield, Seymour, and many other communities.

This was a trend nationwide and not unique to Connecticut and were determined to be part of a nationwide hoax.
