AVON, CT — The Avon Town Clerk's Office began selling dog licenses for 2026 on June 1 and is reminding residents of state licensing requirements for dogs.
According to town officials, renewal notices have been mailed to residents who currently hold a 2025 dog license.
Dog owners are encouraged to review the rabies vaccination expiration date listed on their renewal notice.
If a rabies vaccination has expired, owners must provide updated documentation from their veterinarian showing the current expiration date before a license can be issued.
Residents licensing a dog for the first time must provide proof that the dog has been spayed or neutered, if applicable, along with documentation showing a current rabies vaccination.
Under Connecticut law, all dogs older than six months must be licensed.
Additional information about licensing requirements, fees, and application procedures is available through the Town of Avon’s dog licensing information page.
