AVON, CT — A weekly discussion group that began three years ago at the Avon Free Public Library has grown into a community of retired men building friendships through regular conversations.
The library will host a virtual program Wednesday, Oct. 14, exploring the origins and impact of Conversations and Camaraderie, known as C&C, a Tuesday morning discussion group that has expanded beyond Avon.
The program, titled "Meaningful Connections: C&C's Pathway to Human Potential and Friendship," will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.
According to the library, the group began with a simple request to meet at the library and has since developed into a regular gathering where retired men can connect, share experiences and develop friendships.
Visitors to the library on Tuesday mornings may have noticed members gathered in the atrium, engaged in conversations.
The upcoming program will explore how the group was established, how it has grown, and the role it plays in helping participants develop social connections.
Panelists will include the group's two founders, an original member and a librarian.
The discussion will also examine how a relatively simple idea developed into a supportive community group that now reaches participants beyond Avon.
The virtual program is part of the library's adult programming schedule.
Registration is required, and Zoom access information will be emailedto participants the day before the event.
Residents interested in attending can find additional information and register through the Avon Free Public Library's event page.
