Avon High School recognized by CIAC for exemplary Athletics program

On Nov. 15, Avon High School was recognized as a Michaels Achievement Cup ‘exemplary athletics program’ based on its achievements in sportsmanship, student participation, athletic scholarship, athletic personnel, team equity, chemical-free initiatives and overall athletic achievement for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Avon Athletic Director, Newell Porch, received the award at the annual CIAC Sportsmanship Conference, held at the Aquaturf Club in Southington. He was accompanied by school athletic leaders Colleen Norton, Alana Pulling, Jackson Davey and Will Distefano.

Avon was one of 18 Connecticut high schools, and just one of two in Class L (the other being Darien) to be recognized.
