Avon Photographer Helps Job Seekers Put Their “Best Face Forward”

Local job seekers are putting their ‘best face forward” thanks to local photographer Kevin Mihaly of Mihaly Portrait Design, Avon, CT . Over fifty local professionals had photographic portraits taken by Mihaly during two free sessions held at the Simsbury Public Library in April.

According to Business Outreach Librarian and event coordinator, Jennifer Keohane, “Job seekers who attend our social networking classes, hear over and over again that they should have a professional photo on their online profiles.  However, this group is the least able to pay for this type of service. I was thrilled when Kevin contacted me to ask how he could help.” 

Mihaly offered to provide photo sessions and a free digital head shot to job seekers to use on LinkedIn and other social networking sites. “I was happy to help these talented people who, for various reasons find themselves at a career crossroads and need to use technology to facilitate their search”, says Mihaly. 

The free sessions were promoted by the Library to the local job seeking community and were available on a first come basis. After each session, Mihaly spent additional time touching up and providing several finished photos for each person to select from. 

Kevin Mihaly, of Mihaly Portrait Design provides studio and on location services for children, families, engagements, high school seniors, reunions, maternity, fashion, corporate, events and celebrations.  Prior to the opening of his current studio in Avon, Kevin’s studio was located in Tokyo, Japan where his work was featured in Asian and European magazines.  Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York and London, England and he received extensive photographic training at the Hallmark Institute of Photography in Massachusetts.  Previously, Kevin worked for ESPN.  He joined the network when it was a fledgling two year old organization and for 20 years worked within the production department contributing to achieving the growth and reputation ESPN enjoys today.  During his tenure with ESPN, Kevin was honored with three Emmy awards recognizing his ability to tell stories by using creative visual elements along with meaningful narrative.
