Autumn Light Studio and Gallery Hosts Exhibition and Reception for Local Artist
The "abstract" and "non-representational" work of local artist Patrick Stauffer will remain on display until the end of April.
Nearly every day growing up, Patrick Stauffer drew inspiration for art from his mother's work as a seamstress and he started creating art at a young age.
And now the everyday makes its way into his artwork as he experiments with different mediums. He currently works with a wide variety of media. Two sculptures featured at an art exhibition and reception at Autumn Light Studio and Gallery on Thursday night were created from everyday items -- a wooden chair and jewelry box.
Guests were treated to a liqueur tasting provided by Peel, a Connecticut-based provider of Italian liqueurs.

Stauffer describes his work as “abstract” and “non-representational.” All of his pieces are untitled, so that “you have to explore and find something for yourself as the viewer.”
“I usually just start working on [a piece]. There’s not too much of a plan. The process … forms the piece itself, rather than trying to make something I’ve seen,” Stauffer said regarding his creative process.

The exhibition and reception for Stauffer is the first of its kind for Autumn Light Studio and Gallery. Owners Christopher Hayes and Jerry Scelza plan to continue showcasing the work of one of their 45 local artists every two months.
“It’s a great opportunity for Patrick to get exposure. That’s what we’re here for—we’re trying to give local, up-and-coming artists an outlet,” Scelza said.
Stauffer’s work will remain on display until the end of April.
