Avon will play Granby Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. at Salmon Brook Park.
Avon beat Simsbury 12-5 Monday night in the first round of Little League playoffs for the 11-12 age bracket.
"We fell behind in the first inning but bounced back to take the lead by the bottom of the second," team manager Mark Olson wrote in an e-mail to Patch. "The boys didn't look back at that point and keep the pressure on Simsbury the rest of the game. Overall a strong team performance from the hitters, pitchers and fielders. It was a great team victory with the entire team contributing."
The game was played on Simsbury's Memorial Park.
The tournament is double elimination, and the win matches Avon up against Granby for a Tuesday night playoff game at 5:30 p.m. at Salmon Brook Park in Granby.
