Avon 2021 Local Elections: Candidates, Polling Places, Hours

Here's what you need to know concerning the 2021 Avon elections including the candidates, polling places, voting hours and more.

AVON, CT — Avon residents will head to the polls on Nov. 2 to cast votes for the municipal election. The position of Town Council, and spots on the Board of Finance, Board of Education, Board of Assessment Appeals, and Zoning Board of Appeals are all up for grabs.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 2. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information.

You can request an absentee ballot here or you can visit your town clerk's office. All voters are eligible to check the top box that lists "COVID-19" as a reason for requesting an absentee ballot.

Town Council: Democratic candidates Daniel Polhamus, Barbara Ausiello, Jason Indomenico and Anthony Weber. Republican candidates are Heather Maguire, James Speich, Jeff Bernetich and James Beaudoin.

Vote for up to five candidates.


Board of Finance: Democrats Carl Gisnarian, Houston Putnam Lowry and Charles Harvell. Republican candidates are Ken Birk, David Cavanugh, Margaret Bratton and Brian R. Loveless.

Vote for up to four candidates.


Board of Education, full term: Democratic candidates Lynn Katz and Thej Singh. Republican candidates are Liz Sommerkorn, Jennifer Das, Katie Kapisak and Jeffrey S. Fleischman.

Vote for up to four candidates.


Board of Assessment Appeals, full term: Democrats Norm Sondheimer and Kershwin Singh. Republicans Adelina Cirikovic and John Boucher.

Vote for up to two candidates.


Zoning Board of Appeals, full term: Democrats Chet Bukowski and Jaime Polhamus. Republican candidates James P. Williams and Ames B. Shea.

Vote for up to two candidates.
