Avon Boy Scout Troop Adult Leaders Honored
Four of Troop 274's adult leaders are recognized for their service at Mark Twain District Dinner

Avon Boy Scout Troop 274 adult leaders were recognized for their service to scouting at the Mark Twain District Dinner held at Camp Happy Hill in Farmington in March. Pictured above from left are: Peter Kawa, who received the Outstanding Service award; Bob Sanford, who was awarded the District Committee Scouter’s Training Award and District Committee Key; Chris Carroll, who received the District Award of Merit; and former Troop 274 Scoutmaster Jeff Pooler who was honored with the Hometown Hero award. Mr. Pooler recently returned from his seventh tour of duty in the Middle East as a member of the Connecticut Air National Guard so his honor is well earned, indeed. Avon Boy Scout Troop has more than 80 member scouts who take on active leadership roles in the troop, serve their community through year-round volunteer efforts, and enjoy High Adventure excursions to places like Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and Florida National High Adventure Seabase, which offers scouts amazing water programs from sailing to scuba diving to rustic camping on an undeveloped barrier island.
