Avon/Canton Veterans Awarded Wartime Service Medals
Veterans from both towns were honored Sept. 26 at a special ceremony at Avon High School.
AVON/CANTON, CT — Last week, Veterans from two area towns were presented with their well-deserved wartime service medals at a special ceremony at Avon High School.
State Sen. Lisa Seminara, R-Avon, and area officials presented wartime service medals on Thursday, Sep. 26, to both Avon and Canton veterans.
“It is such an honor to present these medals to our local veterans,” Seminara said. “It is a way to thank them for their service and sacrifice to our country. They fought to secure American freedom, virtue, equality and prosperity.

"Thanks to the courage and bravery of men and women willing to give their lives for our country, we are free.”
The Connecticut Wartime Service Medal is available to Connecticut veterans who have performed at least 90 days of wartime service as a Connecticut resident.
