Avon Farm Works To Help Food Insecure This Thanksgiving
Miller Farms in Avon is teaming up with Connecticut Foodshare to help food-insecure families in 169 CT towns enjoy a Thanksgiving turkey.

AVON, CT —An Avon farm is teaming up with the state's food bank in a quest this Thanksgiving to help all of Connecticut's towns.
Just in time for Thanksgiving, Miller Farms Cares, Inc., a non-profit of Miller Farms in Avon (308 Arch Road) is again partnering with Wallingford-based Connecticut Foodshare, and other non-profits, to “Feed 169 Towns in Connecticut” this November.

Everyone can participate by buying turkeys to benefit those who suffer food insecurity in Connecticut.
Donations of turkeys for families in need have been going on at Miller Farms for decades.

Now individuals, as well as corporations, can make a tax-exemptible donation, to help them with their important mission to feed people in need in all 169 towns in Connecticut.
Since 1950, Miller Farms in Avon has provided farm-fresh turkeys to generations of
families in Connecticut and across the United States.
The partnership in 2020 with Connecticut Foodshare expanded that mission.
This year, Miller Farms has an ambitious goal to support all 169 towns in the state with a turkey at Thanksgiving.
“As a fourth-generation family business, we care deeply for those in our community. Miller Farms Cares is our way of giving back and supporting those most in need with a turkey at Thanksgiving,” said Capri Brighenti, president and chief executive officer of Miller Farms Cares, Inc.
Since 2020, Miller Farms has fed 300,000 plus people during its “Thankful
Turkey” holiday promotion through direct sales at Millerfarms.us.
All donations of "Thankful Turkeys" will be delivered directly to Connecticut
Foodshare, the local Feeding America food bank, as well as other local non-profit
organizations.
Each turkey donated will feed up to 20 people.
There are three simple ways to help: individual sales; group sales; or direct donation.
Anyone can directly purchase a Thankful Turkey for $99.
For each Thankful Turkey sold, one will be donated to Connecticut Foodshare.
Second, through their Employee Appreciation Program, companies can “gift” a turkey to their
employees which includes delivery to their door a Thankful Turkey, or a Thankful Turkey Gift
Box with mulling spices and their famous family recipe brining kit.
The third option is their Corporate Partner in Giving program with levels up to $1,000 or more.
According to the Connecticut Foodshare website, estimates from Feeding America state
more than 465,000 Connecticut residents struggle with hunger and more than
112,000 (1 children are food insecure.
