Avon Obituary: Donald Heath, Sr., 91

Condolences to his family and friends.

Donald D. Heath Sr., 91, of Avon, passed away peacefully Friday, September 25, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.

Born May 5, 1924 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, he was the son of the late Frank C. and Hazel (Baldwin) Heath. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II having served in North Africa and Italy and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Prior to retiring, Donald was a Jet Engine Mechanic at Pratt and Whitney in Southington. He grew up in Sayville, Long Island, NY and moved to Avon where he built his own home in 1957. He loved his home and gardening in his yard.

He is survived by his daughter Agnes Bailey and her husband John of New Hartford, his son Donald Heath Jr. of Old Saybrook, his son Robert Heath of Sutton, VT, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two beloved daughters-in-law, Sue Heath and Shirley Heath.

Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be held Friday (Oct. 2) at 1:00pm in Evergreen Cemetery, Avon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Hospice Program at Farmington Valley VNA, 8 Old Mill Lane, Simsbury, CT 06070.
