Avon Obituary: Eric Cizek, Sr., 89

Condolences to his family and friends.

Eric Paul Cizek, Sr., 89, of Avon, beloved husband of Bettylee (Mix) Cizek, died Sunday, November 8, 2015 at his home family at his side.

He was born April 1, 1926 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Frank and Hazel (Robb) Cizek and had lived in Wilmette, IL prior to moving to Avon over 38 years ago. Eric was a graduate of Cornell University, Class of 1949, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Engineering, and received his Master Degree in Chemical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Cizek was a successful Chemical Engineer having worked for Ford, Duracell and Quno and while employed at GE, was responsible for several patents including NORYL. He also designed and built the first injection molding facility for Columbia Records that manufactured 8 tracks and cassettes. He was a member of the Church of Saint Ann in Avon and the Elks Club. Eric enjoyed hiking, gold panning and fishing.

Besides his loving wife of 64 years, he is survived by his two sons, Eric Paul Cizek, Jr, and his wife Robbin of Avon and Randall Cizek and his with Kathryn of Avon; his grandchildren, James Cizek, Christina Rydingsward, Jaclynn Attenello, Kenneth Cizek and Kimberly Cizek; his great grandchildren, Caiden Rydingsward, Brooke Rydingsward and Adelynn Cizek; his brother-in-law, David Davies and his wife Karen and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James Cizek and his sister-in-law, Betty Cizek.

Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike (RT 44) in Canton, Wednesday, November 11th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 12th, 10:00 AM at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road in Avon. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
