Avon Obituary: Ernest Bleau, Jr., 78

Condolences to his family and friends.

Ernest "Ernie" J. Bleau, Jr., 78, of Avon and Rome, ME, beloved husband to Kay (Brock) Bleau for 49 years, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016.

He was born and raised in New Britain, son of the late Ernest and Anna (Mullin) Bleau and was active in the YMCA. He graduated from New Britain High School where he was a member of the Marching and Dance Bands. He attended Cheshire Academy, St. Michael's College, and graduated from Fairfield University. After college, he joined the Travelers Insurance Company as a Claim Adjuster and retired as a Human Resources Vice President in the Corporate Finance department.

After a long and successful career at Travelers, Ernie spent Spring, Summer, and Fall with his wife at their beloved camp "Rockledge" on Great Pond in Rome, Maine. He served as President, Director, and Operations Manager of the Crystal Springs Camps Association. He also served and consulted for many years for both the Alfond Youth Center/YMCA Personnel Committee and Farmington Valley Reemployment Group. Ernie was an avid swimmer who accomplished a mile a day in both ME & CT. He was a communicant of both the Church of Saint Ann in Avon and the Holy Spirit Parish in Waterville, ME.

Besides his loving and devoted wife, Kay; he leaves two daughters Aimee Bearer and husband Matt Bearer of Holliston, MA and Suzanne Bleau of Brunswick, ME; two special grandchildren, Adelaide Bearer and Devlin Bearer of Holliston, MA. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother Eugene Bleau and two grandchildren Brock LeBlanc and Ernest LeBlanc.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, April 23, 2016, 10 am directly at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. There are no calling hours.
