Avon Obituary: Kenneth Bean, 82

Condolences to his family and friends.

Kenneth Forte Bean, 82, of Avon, beloved husband of Mary Denise (Hidley) Bean, died Friday, May 6, 2016 at Avon Health Center.

He was born April 14, 1934 in Beverly, MA, son of the late Arthur and Theresa (Forte) Bean and had lived in Avon for over 50 years. Ken was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of Tufts University, Class of 1960, having received his Medical Doctorate and finished his residency at Brown University and Connecticut Valley Hospital.

Dr. Bean was a practicing Psychiatrist affiliated with Bristol Hospital and Counseling Center for 56 years prior to his retirement. Having enjoyed exploring the depths of his Catholic faith, Ken was a communicant of the Church of Saint Ann in Avon and was a member of their Choir and Breakfast Club. He enjoyed traveling the world, painting, charcoal sketching, photography, theater and dining with his wife and family.

Besides his loving wife of 51 years, he is survived by his daughter, Melissa Ruddy and her husband Michael of Canton; his three sons, Damon Bean and his wife Kerry of New Hartford, Jason Bean of Los Angeles, CA and Eric Bean of Lowell, MA; his grandchildren, Aspyn and Maeve Bean of New Hartford, Courtney and Haley Bean of Dracut, MA and Anne and Katherine Ruddy of Canton. He was predeceased be his brother, Arthur Bean.

Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Tpke in Canton on Thursday, May 12th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 13th, 11:00 AM at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road in Avon. Burial will be private.
