Avon Obituary: Kenneth Wakeen, 87

Condolences to his family and friends.

Kenneth Louis Wakeen, 87. of Naples, FL and formerly of Avon, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 surrounded by his adoring family. For 61 years, he was the loving husband of Joan (Mossessian) Wakeen.

Born in Lawrence, MA, on February 25,1928, he was the eldest son of Nicolas and Regina Wakeen. A WWII veteran and recipient of the Victory Medal, he used his GI Bill benefits to attend Worcester Academy and (WPI) Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he acquired a degree in Electrical Engineering. During his career, he worked for Raytheon, Digital and Gould Instruments.

Ken was well-liked, good hearted and gracious man who found value and something special in every person he met. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed the athletic achievements of his five children who attended Avon HS. Later in life, Ken turned his talents to oil painting, becoming an accomplished artist with works in private collections across the country and in the Armenian National Museum in Watertown, MA.

Besides his loving wife Joan, Ken is survived by three daughters: Diane Strazzulla, Susan Personatti, Sandra Williams and two sons: Stephen and Jeffrey Wakeen and his brother Edward Wakeen. His family also includes fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Memorial service - March 7 at 10:30am at the Armenian Church of the Holy Translators in Framingham, MA.
