Avon Obituary: Loren Burton, 81

Loren N. Burton, Jr., 81, of Milford, beloved husband of Eleanor (O'Neill) Burton for 57 years, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 in Avon.

Born in Derby, son of the late Loren N. Burton, Sr. and Christine Margaret (Duff) Burton, he was raised in Seymour, graduating from Seymour High School. Loren served in the US Navy during the Korean War and upon his discharge graduated from the Hartford Institute of Technology. He was employed for 35 years by Armstrong Tire of New Haven, now Pirelli Tire Company. In retirement, he had been a crossing guard at the Five Corners in Milford for 20 years.

While his children were growing up, he was a scout leader and volunteer with the Jr. Majors Baseball League. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, kayaking, and spending time with his family.

Besides his wife Eleanor, he leaves two sons Christopher J. Burton (Suzane) of Milford and James L. Burton (Cheryl) of Danbury; a daughter Lori A. Kachmar (Christopher) of Avon; five grandchildren Haley, Andrew, and Caroline Kachmar of Avon and Emily and Aiden Burton of Danbury; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Martin O'Neill of Naugatuck and Peggy O'Neill of Watertown. He was predeceased by a brother Robert W. Burton of Cheshire.

Services will be private at his request and a memorial celebration will be held at the family home in August.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
