Avon Obituary: Lorna O'Malley, 34

Condolences to her family and friends.

Lorna Ann Fortier O’Malley, 34, of 460 Teel Road, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, October 17th in Athol Memorial Hospital.

Lorna was born in Farmington on November 21, 1980, daughter of Dr. Alexander J. and Carol L. (Anderson) Fortier of Westerly, RI. Lorna grew up in Avon, where she graduated in 1999 from Avon High School. She furthered her education, graduating in 2003 from Boston College with a degree in Psychology and her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling Psychology in 2005.

Lorna lived in Winchendon for eight years. She was a LMHCP and worked for two years as Head Clinician at Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center in Gardner, where she also ran its therapeutic riding program. She adored animals and enjoyed horseback riding for 17 years. Her other hobbies included skiing, sailing and snowboarding.

In addition to her parents, she leaves her soul mate, Jayson Desmond of Winchendon; his daughter Starr Desmond , his parents Steve and Mary Desmond, and their daughter Jess Desmond, all of Winchendon. She also leaves four aunts, Catherine Buotte of Maine, Susan Hogan, Norma Ingram and Evelyn Fortier of CT and three uncles, Don Hogan, David Ingram and Larry Fortier of CT and ten cousins, Eric Hogan, Kurt Hogan, Catherine Ingram, Mark Ingram, Katherine Fortier, Kimberly Liedl, Paula and Carl Anderson, Tracy and Curt Anderson.

A Memorial service will be held Friday, October 30th at 6 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate. A reception will follow at Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, Stallings Campus, 21 Murdock Avenue, Winchendon, MA 01475. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held from 4 to 6 P.M. preceding the service.
