
Nicholas W. Phillips Jr., 84, of Avon, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2016, surrounded by his family after a short illness.
Nick leaves to cherish his memory, wife, JoAnn, son, Nicholas III (Judy) of Medfield, MA, son, Anthony (Susan) of Suffield, daughter, Leslie Mischke (Kurt) of Meriden, son, Mark (Betsy) of New Britain, and daughter, Rebecca, of Hebron. He was adored by his grandchildren Kirsten, Matthew, Andrew, Jordan, Erica, Jason, Brian and Jacob. He is also survived by his brother, Frank (Rosie) of East Lansing, MI and sister-in-law, Sandy of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Ronald. Nick will also be truly missed by long time friends Rob and Jeanie.
Nick was an avid bridge player, enjoyed acting in local theatre, and was an active member in the Prince Thomas of Savoy Italian club singing group, a world traveler, decorated U.S. Marine, having received a purple heart during his service in the Korean War. He always kept busy and loved his part-time job in the garden center at Walmart where he loved being Santa Claus each year. He lived life to the fullest up to his very last days and was blessed with many wonderful friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at The CT Hospice in Branford CT for their wonderful and supportive care.
Arrangements will be held privately by the family. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at the Prince Thomas of Savoy Italian Club in Avon, date yet to be determined.
