Avon Obituary: William Carter, 91

Condolences to his family and friends.

William C. Carter (Bill), born 5 November, 1924, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday February 21st at his home in Florida.

He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Louise. He is survived by three siblings, Hazel, Carl and Babe; a daughter, Nancy Ferrantella and her husband Nick, a son William, and his wife Ruth; two grandsons, Ryan Carter and Jesse Ferrantella, as well as a great-granddaughter, Petra Lily Carter.

Bill served with distinction in the US Merchant Marine in WWII, in both theaters of the war; he grew up a farmer, became a skilled tool and die maker for many years; and had a second career as lithographer, printing books, ads and magazines as well as the Albuquerque Journal. A gardener, a traveler, a voracious reader, picture puzzle maker, and a follower of the New York Mets and Duke basketball; he was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

The funeral will take place at St. Matthew Lutheran Church 224 Lovely Street in Avon, at 2:00PM on Saturday March 5th, with a private burial following.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at St. Matthew.
