Avon Police Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public Comment

The public may offer input via phone, email or in person at a public hearing.

The Avon Police Department re-accreditation on-site is scheduled for Feb. 28 through March 2, 2016, and input from local residents is being sought by the accreditation assessment team.

Assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Accreditation (CALEA) will arrive on Feb. 28 to examine all aspects of the Avon Police Department policy and procedures, management, operations and support services. The re-accreditation process includes reviewing and verifying the department’s continuing efforts to maintain International Law Enforcement Accreditation.

Verification by the Assessment Team that the Avon Police Department meets CALEA’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation – a highly-prized recognition of public safety professional excellence, according to Chief of Police Mark Rinaldo.
