Avon Police Welcome Back Returning Veterans
The police department is welcoming back two military veterans who served in Afghanistan.

AVON, CT — The Avon Police Department is proud to have nine Armed Forces members (both active duty and vets) in its ranks — two of whom have just returned after a year of active duty in Afghanistan with the United States Marine Corps.
Officer Mark Arbogast and Officer William Forster joined the Department over five years ago and will both be returning to their Patrol Officer duties at the Department m the coming days. Our Department is close-knit and with only 35 sworn Officers, the absence of both Arbogast and Forster has been keenly felt here. Having them back, unharmed, is a true holiday blessing for all of us!

We also anxiously await the return of one of our Certified Communications Dispatchers, Nicole L'Heureux, who is on active duty at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. She will be returning in Spring 2020 and we continue to keep her in our thoughts while she, too, serves our country.
Director of Police Services James Rio met with Off. Arbogast this past Monday when he returned to work and spoke with Off. Forster by phone. "I am very impressed by the officers' dedication to our county and community, and by their humility. Neither wanted any fanfare but we felt it was appropriate to let the community know about their service; they are a true representation of the caliber of officers we have in the department".
