Avon Resident Alexander Scott Elected Secretary of Connecticut Funeral Directors Assn.

Alexander J. Scott, CFSP, CPC, has been elected the 2017 Secretary of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA). Scott is a licensed funeral director/embalmer and the Director of Community Outreach at Duksa Family Funeral Homes. He has worked at the firm since 2005, at Newington Memorial Funeral Home and Fisette-Batzner Funeral Home at 20 Bonair Ave. in Newington, and at Burritt Hill Funeral Home at 332 Burritt Street in New Britain.

Scott has 25 years of experience in funeral service and funeral home management in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York. He is responsible for helping individuals and families who have been faced with a loss in selecting and planning their services.

He is recognized as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) through the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. His CPC (Certified Planning Consultant) is from the National Funeral Directors Association, making him qualified to help families plan appropriate and customized services, manage funding options and ensure consumer protection for the families he serves.

The Avon, Conn. resident attended Boston University, has a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Business Management from Western New England College, and received his degree in Mortuary Science from Simmons Institute in Syracuse, NY.

He is Vice President of the Newington Chamber of Commerce, is a Board member of Rotary International of New Britain/Berlin, and is a member of the New Britain Chamber of Commerce and the New Britain Triad senior safety advocacy organization.

The Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA) is comprised of funeral directors at more than 220 funeral homes. The 2017 Officers and Executive Committee elections were held during the association’s 128th Annual Convention in December. Founded in 1889, the Wethersfield-based association is committed to the promotion and advocacy of high ethical standards in funeral service. This includes the development and presentation of ongoing professional training opportunities for practitioners and educational programs for association members and the public.
