Avon Restaurant Week's 'Sip And Savor' Event Enjoys Successful Debut
The inaugural fundraiser raised money for the Avon Food Bank and featured local appetizers and cocktails from Avon eateries.
AVON, CT — A new fundraising event last month proved to be quite successful in its quest to feature local food and drinks and help the less fortunate.
The inaugural Sip & Savor tasting event that launched Avon Restaurant Week on Feb. 19 raised more than $1,000 for the Avon Food Bank and drew local restaurants into friendly competition for the town’s best appetizers and cocktails.
Participating restaurants competed in two categories — "Best Appetizer" and "Best Cocktail" — with attendees selecting the winners.

Market Place Kitchen + Bar finished third in both categories.
Sip & Savor served as the kickoff to Avon Restaurant Week, which ran Feb. 20–28 across the town.
During the weeklong promotion, participating eateries offered meal specials, discounts, and other promotions designed to showcase Avon’s dining scene.
The event and Restaurant Week were organized in partnership with the Town of Avon and supported by several sponsors, including PeoplesBank, William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty, Biogenexct, Protopac, Inc., and Classic Hotels of Connecticut.
Organizers said the kickoff event’s fundraising success and strong participation from local restaurants highlighted the variety of dining options in Avon while supporting a local food assistance program.
