Avon Summer Theater presents Loserville!
Students from all over the Farmington Valley will perform the full-length musical Loserville, the smash-hit from London's West End. This show, full of timely themes about the advance of technology, bullying and feminism with a little romance thrown in, entertains with humor and an abundance of music and dance.
Avon Summer Theater draws students from many surrounding towns and schools. This year’s participants include students from Farmington, Avon, Canton and Southington High Schools, as well as Lewis Mills, Northwest Catholic, Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, Kingswood Oxford, Loomis Chaffee, Miss Porter’s and Watkinson.
Nominated for an Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 2013 and with many more accolades, Loserville is based on the groundbreaking album, "Welcome to Loserville," from the band, Son of Dork. This summer’s local production of Loserville marks the 57th continuous summer musical presented by Avon Summer Theater.
“Loserville is fresh, not well-known and not over-produced. There is lots of freedom in design. Its energetic rock score is modern and original,” states Ken Jones, Technical Director. The show, set in 1971, features upbeat music and dance and lots of humor as Michael, Holly and their geeky friends work on their computer invention only to be thwarted by Eddie, the school bully. Loserville is appropriate and entertaining for audiences of all ages.
Loserville will be performed at Avon High School Auditorium, West Avon Road, Avon. Performance dates are July 21, 22 at 7:30 pm, and July 23 at 2 pm. Tickets are $15/$10 for general seating. The box office will open at 6:30, with doors opening at 7:00.
