Avon Taxes Up Slightly With New Fiscal Year

AVON, CT - The new fiscal year begins July 1 and with it comes a slight increase in taxes.

Here is an overview of the $89 million 2016-17 budget, adopted on May 11.

• Tax rate - 29.52 mills, up from 28.80 mills.
• Municipal Expenditures: $23,295,518.
• Board of Education: $56,621,408.
• Debt Service: $2,779,790.
• Capital Improvement: $4,410,037.
• Sewers: $1,947,68.
• Total Expenditures: $89,054,435.
