Avon U11 Defeats Wethersfield 10-8 for Section 2 Title

After a 10-8 Section 2 championship win against Wethersfield in Harwinton on Thursday, Avon's 10-11 Little League All Stars have advanced to the state championship series. The series is scheduled for this weekend.

"This is the first time any U-11 District 6 All Star team from Avon has ever advanced to the state finals," Team Manager Steve Harris wrote in an e-mail.

Avon has its first game on July 31 at Bob Duval Field in Haddam at 2 p.m.

"We will be playing the champions from Section 1, a very strong Fairfield American team," Harris said.
