FARMINGTON/AVON, CT — A recent hockey game benefit proved quite successful in raising money in honor of a Farmington teen killed by a drunk driver in 2022.

In addition, participants and spectators helped promote the Luke Roux Foundation during the game, which took place at the Avon Old Farms School Ice Rick.
Before the puck dropped, the Farmington Valley Generals players warmed up wearing the memorial game T-shirts marked with Luke’s retired No. 16 jersey number, with Luke Roux, a 2022 Farmington High School grad slated to attend the University of Connecticut, on their minds.

In an exciting and hard-fought matchup, the Farmington Valley Generals, Luke’s former hockey team, skated to a 5–3 victory and delivered plenty of action and energy for the crowd.
“The Luke Roux Memorial Hockey Game serves as a powerful reminder of why the Foundation’s work matters, bringing people together to honor a life lost too soon while continuing efforts focused on awareness, education, and long-term solutions to end impaired driving,” said Carri Roux of the Luke Roux Foundation.
“The Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to the Farmington Valley Generals players, team families, Foundation volunteers, and the community of fans who made the fourth annual game a meaningful success. Together, we skate forward in Luke’s memory.”
Established in June 2022, after Luke's death 11 days after his high school graduation, the Luke Roux Memorial Fund was created to honor his legacy and support the organizations that shaped his character.
In 2024, the Memorial Fund evolved into an official nonprofit organization, now known as the Luke Roux Foundation, and received 501(c)(3) status.
The foundation’s mission is to reduce fatalities caused by impaired driving today and work toward eliminating them tomorrow.
It continues to support organizations focused on raising awareness about all destructive driving, and partners with groups aligned with its mission through advocacy and programming.
Additionally, it supports those organizations that helped shape Luke’s distinct character, including but not limited to hockey and baseball.
