She's been doing the project with her classes for 17 years. The books were published through StudentTreasures, a division of Nationwide Learning, LLC in Kansas, according to the company's website. This is the third year she has invited families to Barnes & Nobles to hear the children present their books and get signed copies from the authors.

The students chose what they wrote about, typically drawing from personal interests.
