Clothing Drive To Help Avon Fire Victims
The Avon community is conducting the drive at a local church April 24-26, with both volunteers and clothing donations being sought.
AVON, CT — Donations and volunteers are being sought in Avon for a special, three-day clothing drive set up April 24-26 to help the victims of a recent apartment building fire.
Fire tore through an apartment building at 44 Avonwood Road Sunday night, April 21, impacting the residents of 58 units affected by the blaze.
Since then, the local community has come together in a variety of ways to help out those who may have suffered material losses in the fire.

In addition to volunteers, all sorts of clothing donations are being sought.
Among the special requests are children's and adult clothing, such as "good condition" work and school clothes.
"Please make sure items are already clean due to limited access to laundry," wrote clothing drive organizers on Thursday.
Those donating are being asked to bring the items to the church hall and lay them out on organized tables, a necessary step due to the limited amount of volunteers available to help.
Anyone with questions can contact Avon Town Council Member Erin Barthel at ebarthel@avonct.gov.
