Connecticut residents win national title at Summer North American Bridge Championships
Three Connecticut residents earned titles at the Summer North American Bridge Championships (NABCs).
Three Connecticut residents earned titles at the Summer North American Bridge Championships (NABCs), as part of the 18 championship-level events held in Washington, D.C., from July 20 to 30. Geoffrey Brod of Avon, Conn., claimed victory at the Truscott/USPC Senior Swiss event, while Franklin Merblum of Bloomfield, Conn., and Douglas Doub of West Hartford, Conn., both claimed victory at the Grand National Team Championship Flights
This is Brod’s third first-place NABC title, Merblum’s fourth NABC title and Doub’s eighth NABC title. Members of Brod’s team, pictured left to right in Photo 1, included John Rengstorff of New York, N.Y., Brod, Richard Reitman of Los Gatos, Calif., and Glenn Eisenstein of New York, N.Y. The NABCs are held three times a year across the U.S. and Canada to bring together players of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced, with opportunities for everyone to play daily from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The 2016 Fall NABCs will be held in Orlando, Fla., from Nov. 24 to Dec. 4.
